Dimapur, January 27 (MExN): The President of Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA), Nagaland, Dr Andrew Ahoto Sema has been elected as the Regional Committee Chairman of the YMCA-North East India Region during its recently concluded election. 

This is the “first time ever” that the Chairman of the YMCA-North East India Region has been elected from Nagaland state, stated a press release from Media Cell of YMCA Nagaland. 

The installation and swearing in ceremony of the Chairman and other members of the Regional Committee of YMCA-NEIR was held on January 25 at Mizoram House, Cleve Colony, Shillong and was attended by various officials of the YMCA-NEIR and delegates from all good standing YMCAs in the North East. 

During the programme, the Chairman of the Nomination Committee, JR Myrboh announced the names of the new office bearers and committee members who were ceremoniously installed and administered the oath of office by the Most Reverend Dr P Lyngdoh, Bishop of the Anglican Churches, Diocese of North East India.

After the formal installation, the newly elected team of office bearers gathered for the first meeting of the Regional Committee, YMCA-NEIR where several agendas were discussed and resolutions passed for the upcoming session. 

The programme concluded with the dedication and inauguration of the new office vehicle of YMCA-NEIR by the outgoing Regional Committee Chairman and National Council Member, Dr R Lalthangliana who is also the former Minister of Higher & Technical Education, Government of Mizoram.
