Dr. Kakheto Zhimomi resigns from BJP

Dimapur, March 28 (MExN): Former Chairman of BJP Political Affairs Committee, Dr. Kakheto Zhimomi has resigned from the BJP citing NDA government’s failure to fulfill its promises, increase of intolerance in the country after it came to power, RSS influence and imposition of its ideology on the party as some reasons.   In a press release, Dr. Kakheto stated that after closely observing the last General Election scenario of the country, the tide was moving towards the NDA, so he joined the party with the hope that Modi would deliver goods to the common people. “Months and year went by but all those tall promises turned out to be only rhetoric and the economic condition of the people at the grass root level remained the same if not worse. Adding salt to the wound, under NDA Government, the minorities were targeted more, churches vandalized and intolerance increased. Efforts are on now even to scrap the reservation.” All these, he said, are happening because of implementing the agenda of the RSS to “hinduise” the country, while adding “Our conscience does not allow us to be part of it.”

Dr. Kakheto stated that in Nagaland, an RSS person has been deputed as the General Secretary (organization) to see that the party functions in line with the ideology of RSS - BJP being the political wing of it. Now, Hindu rituals are performed before the meeting starts, for which a senior member walked out and subsequently resigned earlier, he recalled, adding similarly, in 11 Ashoka Road (BJP national office), one has to go through Hindu rituals before entering the office premises. Learning that without the backing of the RSS, any BJP member has no say and cannot do anything, Dr. Kakheto approached the RSS in-charge for North East. However, as expected unless one is a Hindu, one cannot become RSS member nor get the support, he stated. The former BJP PAC Chairman asserted that he joined BJP for the sake of development and not to change his faith so he could not compromise on that.   Further, he noted that this time in Nagaland BJP State Unit election, a person who is just one year old in BJP was selected to head the party because “he has the backing of the RSS-Heraka.” According to the release, BJP constitution clearly states that unless a person is an active member for more than 10 years, he or she cannot become the President or is eligible for the post. Terming the BJP constitution and manifesto as “farce”, Dr. Kakheto alleged that if one has money and backing of RSS no constitution is binding on him. “Nagaland BJP state unit does not have the guts or the will to fight the election but only wants to play second fiddle to regional party and get its due pound of flesh,” he stated. “The voice of Nagaland BJP is like a voice in the wilderness but the voice of ruling regional party and Heraka is loud and clear in the ear of Amit Shah and Namo.”   He concluded that “it is really frustrating, useless and disgusting to be in such party” and hence tendered his resignation from the BJP party.
