The PWD Colony Panchayat sanitation vehicle was formally flag off this morning by parliamentary secretary for law & justice, land revenue and labour & employment Dr. Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire at the Upper PWD Resting Shed Kohima.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kire appreciated the leaders of PWD Colony for their initiative and contribution for the cause of the colony people.
He congratulated leaders and denizens of the colony for a new sanitation vehicle which was bought from donation, contributed by the colony people. He also thanked all the individual and departments for their generous contribution.
Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) chief executive officer Elizabeth Ngully also spoke at the function. She appreciated the leaders of the colony and its citizens for their tireless effort for the project in a short span.
The total cost of the sanitation vehicle was Rs 8, 94,642 which were donation, contributed by PWD department- Rs. 2.75 lakhs and National Rural Health Mission- Rs 2.60 lakh, and from colony side Upper PWD Sector- Rs. 1,53,740/-, Middle PWD Sector- Rs. 2, 65,000/-, and Lower PWD Sector- Rs. 1,30,000/-.
The programme was chaired by Neibulie Kiewhuo, chairman of Middle PWD Sector Panchayat; PWD Colony Panchayat chairman Ketsodil Neikha gave a brief report on the project; and Rev. M. Mhathung, Pastor of Lotha Baptist Church Kohima pronounced the dedication prayer, follow by flag off the vehicle by the chief guest.
