DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 27 (MExN):
The annual sports meet of Lima Aier Higher Secondary School, Lengrijan began Tuesday, September 27 at the school campus. Minister, Public Health & Engineering, Dr. Ngangshi K Ao graced the customary opening ceremony as the chief guest.
‘Sports an industry in itself’
“Any teaching institution, whether a school or a college, is like a factory,” said Dr. Ngangshi in his address, while adding that its purpose is to produce. In a competitive world, however, only the best will survive. Remarking on how the school has evolved over the past twenty years from ‘infancy to maturity’, he hoped it will further grow from strength to strength. However, the growth, of the school as well as the students, has to be ‘wholistic’ (mind, body and soul), he said while stating: “Knowledge without wisdom is dangerous.
To the students, he reminded that when one pursues education, it is also important that one take care of the body, its emotions and intellect as well. This is where sports come in, which is not only a past time but an industry in itself. “Take care of your body, don’t indulge in unhealthy practices” and take up interests that will eventually develop, he said. “Student life is very brief but is the crucial junction in your life to make important decisions… make an impact in the society, be different and be ambitious” and achieve the ambitions.
The chief guest also donated a sum of Rs. 50, 000 towards the school. The meet will conclude on September 28.
