Dimapur, September 24 (MExN): The German Academic Exchange Services or DAAD has appointed Dr. Rhondemo Kikon from Nagaland as one of their Young Ambassadors. 


A press release stated here that Dr. Rhondemo is a medical doctor and health development consultant with Master of Science in International Health from the Institute of Global Health, University of Heidelberg Germany. He has previously worked with the World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe, Copenhagen, Denmark. 
He returned to India in 2018 and founded the Community Health Initiative (CHI) an NGO based in Nagaland. The vision of CHI is to create sustainable and healthier communities. The main focus areas of CHI are strengthening Primary Health Care, Water Sanitation and Hygiene, Nutrition, and Livelihood. 


As a DAAD Young Ambassador, Dr. Kikon aims to spread information on the study, and research opportunities in Germany, especially in the Northeast region of India. He plans to do so by organizing information sessions, webinars, and use social media to reach out to prospective students and researchers who are keen to take their next steps to Germany.


DAAD is the world’s largest funding organization for the international exchange of students and researchers. Since its inception in 1925, around two million scholars in Germany and abroad have received DAAD funding. DAAD awards competitive and merit-based grants for use towards study and research in any of the accredited German institutions of higher education. 


DAAD goes far beyond merely awarding scholarship and grants. DAAD supports the internationalization of German universities, promotes the German language and German studies abroad. Also, assists developing countries in building efficient universities and advises decision-makers on matters of cultural, education, and development policy.
