Dr. Shishak’s expulsion revoked

Dimapur, August 29 (MExN): The Tangkhul Naga Long has revoked the excommunication of prominent educationist and church leader Dr. Tuisem A Shishak. The founder and principal emeritus of Nagaland’s top college Patkai Christian College was excommunicated by the TNL for his newspaper article ‘A Confession’ last year. The article came under fire from Dr. Shishak’s community for its purported seeking forgiveness for the entire Tangkhul community. A note from the Tangkhul Naga Long today said the “issue” was resolved and settled in a recent executive meeting and approved on August 24. “Hence, the excommunication imposed upon Dr. Tuisem A. Shishak is hereby lifted (with effect from) 24.08.09,” the note stated.

A grateful Tangkhul Baptist Association has welcomed the revocation of the excommunication of Dr. Shishak. In a message, the association expressed deep gratitude to the Tangkhul Naga Long, “for taking the noble step of reconciliation, and thereby, revoking the excommunication,” of Rev. Dr. Tuisem A. Shishak. “We pray that Rev. Dr. Tuisem A. Shishak, who has been committing his life for the cause of the church’s mission and for molding the future of the region through education, the lifting of the excommunication will pave a better way of peace and progress for the region, specially the Nagas,” the association said.
