Dr. Shürhozelie led party here to stay: Azo

Dimapur, October 28 (MExN): MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu has affirmed that Dr. Shürhozelie led regional NPF party was here to stay.

Addressing the Western Chakhesang Mother’s Association (WCMA) general conference held at Agri Expo here on the theme ‘Be inspired for change’ on October 27, Azo said the current political turmoil was a result of current Lok Sabha MP and former Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio opting for a ‘New Delhi assignment’.

According to a press release received here, the MLA stated that with the Election Commission of India’s verdict, the matter would be laid to rest soon and asked the people of Nagaland not to be confused.

Pointing out how Naga society today seems to know only how to criticize and has forgotten to appreciate, Azo said he was ready to appreciate even TR Zeliang led “unconstitutional” government if they can expedite investigation into the various scams like the Public Distribution System (PDS), fuel adulteration and Pillai case by inviting the CBI.

He further expressed concern over the growing disunity among Nagas. In this, Azo encouraged women to lead as role models and be agents of change citing the example of Queen Esther from the Bible. He also pointed out that women’s role towards a healthy society was of paramount importance. “A god fearing, loving and morally upright women keep the society, family and community intact,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Chakhesang Mother’s Association (CMA) president, Zaposhelu Venuh encouraged mothers to take the onus of teaching children their own local dialects, stating “Language is an important tool in bringing people together and uniting people as it is also the identity of a community.”

President, Western Chakhesang Hoho, Vekhosayi Nyekha in his greeting message highlighted the need to re-inculcate the values passed on by forefathers.

Earlier, welcome address was delivered by Bino Kenye, president, Western Chakhesang Mothers’ Association. The inaugural session was followed by two seminars with Mezivolu T Therieh, Additional District Sessions Judge and Sano Vamuzo, former Nagaland State Women Commission chairperson as resource persons.
