Tuensang, April 27 (DIPR): A consultative meeting with Tribal Hoho’s, Municipalities, Woman Hoho’s, Chamber of Commerce and students of Tuensang, Kiphire, and Longleng district in connection with 33% Reservation for Woman and Municipal election was held at Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall Tuensang, in the presence of Minister for Urban Development and Higher & Technical Education, Dr. Shürhozelie.
Dr. Shürhozelie said that the issue was discussed at Kisama last year in the presence of all the tribal leaders. He said that the main purpose of his visit was to listen to the opinion of all Naga leaders stating it to be a sensitive issue. He called upon the people to join hands together to solve and to get the best solution. He also mentioned that Town council and municipal Election was deferred due to census operation in Nagaland.
The introductory speech was delivered by Joint Director, Municipal Affair Cell, Urban Development Nagaland, M. Toshimanen followed by short speech from NGOs like Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation, Eastern Nagaland women Organisation, Chang Khulie Setshang, Yimchunger and Khiamniungan Tribal Councils, United Sangtam Likhum Bumji, Phom Peoples’ Council, Tuensang, Longleng and Kiphire Town Councils, and Chamber of Commerce.
The meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Tuensang Y. L. Jami, IAS was attended by representatives from major Tribes of Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation i.e Chang, Sangtam, Yimchunger, Khiamniungan and Phom from Tuensang, Kiphire and Longleng Districts along with the Minister and his team K. G Kenney Secretary General NPF, Joint Secretary Urban Development, M. Toshimanen, Under Secretary Urban Development Verol, Advisor KMC Er. Chuba (Retd). The program was followed by an interactive session.
