Peren, Kohima, Mon, and Noklak emerged victorious in their respective matches, while Chümoukedima settled for a draw with Niuland in the ongoing 23rdInter-District Football Championship, Dr. T Ao Trophy 2024, at Loyem Memorial Astro Turf Ground in Tuensang town.
In the first match, Chümoukedima, seeking redemption after a previous loss, failed to secure a win, drawing with Niuland. Chümoukedima now faces Dimapur in what could be a decisive match for their qualification to the next round.
Peren made a statement in the second match, cruising past Zunheboto 4-1 after a 4-4 draw in their previous game with Kohima.
Khiuwangbo struck twice for Peren in the 8thand 18thminutes, with Haindingbe and KenumdeSiarau adding goals in the 35thand 52ndminutes, respectively. Zunheboto’sAto scored their lone goal in the 34thminute.
Kohima upset Shamator 3-1 in the third match. Neisede found the net in the 1st and 46thminutes, while Noulevituo added another in the 72ndminute for Kohima. Tsurito scored Shamator’s only goal in the 23rdminute.
In a thrilling match, Mon came from behind to defeat Tseminyu 4-2. Tseminyu took an early lead with goals in the 19thand 36thminutes, but Mon responded with goals in the 21st, 40th, 46th, and 57thminutes to secure the win.
Noklak, needing a win after losing to Mon, managed to edge out Wokha with a goal in the 67thminute, securing a hard-fought victory.
