Kohima, April 21 (MExN): The 21st Dr T Ao Inter-District Football Tournament 2021 has been cancelled for this year, the Organising Committee announced today.
The tournament which was kept in abeyance for some time has been declared cancelled due to unfortunate turn of events and surge of COVID-19 cases, informed a statement from the Committee.
“The Organising Committee further expresses deep regrets towards the inconveniences caused to all concerned,” it added.
On April 14, the Committee had kept the tournament in ‘abeyance till further order’ following the detection of COVID-19 cases among representatives from certain districts.
The inter-district football competition, organised by the Nagaland Football Association (NFA) in collaboration with the Department of Youth Resources & Sports (DYRS), Nagaland, kicked off at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima on April 12 and was scheduled to conclude on April 19.
