Meluri vs Kohima
KOHIMA, AUGUST 5 (MExN): Kohima, Chümoukedima, Mokokchung and Mon registered commanding wins on Match Day 4 of the 24th Inter-District Football Championship for the Dr T Ao Trophy 2025, held at the Indira Gandhi Stadium here on Tuesday.
In the day’s opening fixture, Kohima defeated Meluri 5–1 in a Group D clash. Nevizakie (6’), Nisede (14’), Kevisanyü (19’, 45+1’) and Thejasetuo (51’) were on target for Kohima, while Meluri pulled one back through Asie in the 46th minute. With the win, Kohima climbed to the top of Group D with six points.
In the second match, Group B leaders Chümoukedima cruised to a 4–0 victory over Noklak. Kekru scored a brace (25’, 90+3’), while Paotinsat (46’) and Vikhilie (55’) also found the net. Chümoukedima maintained their perfect record and clean sheet to lead the group with six points.
Mokokchung produced a dominant performance in the third fixture, thrashing Kiphire 6–0 in a Group C encounter. An own goal by Nyeiwang in the 12th minute gave Mokokchung an early lead, followed by strikes from Tongpangnokdang (18’), Sentisang (37’, 42’, 49’) and Moajang (67’). With two consecutive wins, Mokokchung now sits atop the group table with six points.
In the final match of the day, Mon edged out Niuland 2–1 in a tightly contested Group A match. Tingshak opened the scoring for Mon in the 38th minute, while Hivika equalised for Niuland in the 47th. Laiwang netted the winner for Mon in the 55th minute. The victory keeps Mon in contention for a spot in the knockout stage.
With the latest results, Tuensang leads Group A on goal difference with four points, tied with Mon. Chümoukedima, Mokokchung, and Kohima top Groups B, C, and D respectively, each with six points from two matches.
