Peren, Mokokchung and Chümoukedima registered emphatic wins in their respective fixtures on Day 2 of the Dr. T. Ao Trophy 2025, while Tuensang and Mon settled for a draw at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.
The day opened with Tuensang holding Mon to a 1-1 draw. Mon’s K. Arap gave his team the lead in the 22nd minute, but Tuensang levelled the score in the second half through an own goal by Mon’s Sanyem in the 70+1st minute.
In the second match, Chümoukedima edged Longleng 1-0 in a tightly contested game. The lone goal came early, with Katoho finding the net in the 8th minute. Chümoukedima held on for the remainder of the match to take all three points and secure a clean sheet.
Mokokchung continued their strong form with a 3-1 win over Wokha. Sentilong equalised just after the break in the 46th minute following Saronbemo’s 64th-minute goal for Wokha. Mokokchung sealed the match with two late strikes—Takotuba in the 70th and Meyasenba in the 70+3rd minute.
In the day’s final match, Peren came from behind to dominate Meluri 4-1. Yithachu gave Meluri an early lead in the 17th minute, but Peren responded in style. Nrakhak scored twice (41’, 66’) and Kenumdi added a brace of his own (45’, 50’) as Peren took full control in the second half.
