Dr T Ao Trophy: Wins for Phek, Zunheboto, Dimapur, Kohima on Day-III

Phek, Zunheboto and Dimapur today won their respective matches while Kohima awarded walkover win against Longleng on the third day of 21st Inter District Football Championship 2021 (Dr. T. Ao Trophy) here at Indira Gandhi Stadium.

However, the Day-III proceedings were marred by events outside the playing arena related with participating teams.  

Later in the evening, the organising committee of the championship informed that due to the detection of COVID-19 cases among representative from certain districts, the tournament has been kept in abeyance till further order.

The championship is being organised by the Nagaland Football Association (NFA) in collaboration with the Department of Youth Resources & Sports (DYRS), Nagaland.

Meanwhile, in the first match, Phek downed Tuensang 4-1, with Khwetelhi Thopi opening the account for the team in the 38th minute. 

Senowe Khutsoh doubled the tally in the 42nd minute to end the first session of the match 2-0.

When the match resumed in the second half, Yangkong pulled one for the Tuensang in the 47th minutes.

However, the fate of Tuensang was sealed with  Punürü Nienu and Yhoto Lohe contributing a goal each for Phek in the 66th and 68th minute respectively.

In the second match of the day, Zunheboto overpowered Kiphire 3-1.

Mughapu connected the first goal for Zunheboto in the 20th minute while Kito fetched two successive goals for the team in the 40th and 50th minutes.

Angki netted a goal for Kiphire in the 46th minutes.

Meanwhile, Dimapur continued it superb form blanking Wokha 3-0 in the third match. 

Kivi Zhimomi netted the first goal for Dimapur in the 21st minute while Hautingmang Thonjong and Kakhevi Assumi netted a goal each for the team in the 40th and 63rd minute respectively.

Meanwhile, Kohima awarded walkover win against Longleng due to technical issues.
