The Senior Government Advocate conveyed this information to the Division Bench of Justice Devashis Baruah and Justice Susmita Phukan Khaund during the resumed hearing of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed in July 2021.  The PIL sought, among other things, a direction to the State Government to constitute the Mental Health Authority as per the provisions of the Mental Health Care Act 2017.

Accordingly, the Advocate requested the matter to be listed next week so that he can provide up-to-date information regarding the status of the constitution of the State Mental Health Care Authority.  The Court listed the matter for further hearing on February 28.
