Mon, April 27 (MExN): Development Association of Nagaland and Caritas India in partnership with National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) organized a drama competition to mark the World Malaria Day in Mon.
Over 400 students from eight schools took part the event and pledge to fight malaria. The programme began with invocation prayer Fr Sam of Don Bosco, Kishor Dass DPO DAN-Caritas in his keynote address highlighted the importance of World malaria day and the need to fight Malaria by all key stakeholders i.e. public & private sectors, individuals and communities ensuring elimination of malaria.
Dr Supong (DIO) Mon took up a session informing the participants about the history of Malaria, How it effects children and curbs ones full potential. She encouraged the participants to prevent oneself from malaria and act on small things to fight malaria leading to greater achievement. During the program all the eight schools presented Drama with the theme ‘End Malaria for Good.’ In a stiff competition Don Bosco school was awarded 1st Prize, followed by Model school in 2nd position and Christ king school in 3rd Position. The day was also marked with Signature campaign and distribution of IEC materials. Mr Imti Longchar DEO gave the vote of thanks.
