Drone ban imposed near Assam Rifles camps in Mon

MON, DECEMBER 17 (MExN): District Magistrate of Mon, Wennyei Konyak, NCS, has prohibited the flying or operation of drones and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in and around Assam Rifles camps and other restricted areas in the district, citing security concerns.

According to an order issued by the district magistrate, the prohibition follows inputs from the Assam Rifles that unauthorised civil drone activities have been observed in and around their camp areas in Mon district, posing a serious threat to security, public order and public safety.

The order directs all citizens, residents, visitors, organisations and media persons to strictly refrain from flying, operating or using drones or UAVs in areas in and around Assam Rifles camps and military establishments, as well as in other restricted, sensitive and notified areas within the district.

It further stated that any violation of the order would invite legal action, and such drones would be liable to be neutralised, jammed or confiscated by security agencies as deemed necessary. The order has come into immediate effect and will remain in force until further notice.
