KOHIMA, JUNE 22 (DIPR): The S. P. Narcotics Cell, N S Rengma while addressing participants for consultation on reducing drug demand for HIV prevention at Hotel Japfu said that drug addiction and trafficking is a social problem that has adversely affected the society and called upon everyone to curb the problem. He said that Narcotics Task force has a set plan for the next five years, for supply reduction and also to fight drug menace. The plans focus on:
(1) Identifying and profiling of people engaged in production, transportation and distribution of Narcotic drugs.
(2) Identification and profiling of drug users.
(3) Identification of routes for drug traffickers.
(4) Strict law enforcement.
(5) Rehabilitation of drug users.
He also informed that during the last 6 (Six) months, the total cases registered was 28, and total number of persons arrested was 33, Heroin seized - 87 grams, Opium seized - 8 Kgs & 200 grams, Ganja seized - 10, 491 Kgs.
