The office complex of Drug Control Administration cum Nagaland Drug Laboratory was inaugurated in Kohima by Nagaland’s Health & Family Welfare Minister, P Paiwang Konyak on October 6.
Located within the area of Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Kohima, it was inaugurated in the presence of V Kezo, Commissioner & Secretary, H&FW, Dr Ritu Thurr, Principal Director, H&FW along with senior officers from the department.
The office complex was constructed under the Central Government Scheme of “Strengthening of State Drug Regulatory System” with a project cost of Rs 5 crore, according to WH Patton, Additional Drugs Controller, Controlling & Licensing Authority, H&FW, Nagaland.
The 1st Phase of the project which includes the infrastructure of the Nagaland Drug Laboratory started in the year 2020 and completed in September 2023. The 2nd phase of the project will be for the establishment of the Nagaland Drug laboratory which is under active consideration of the Ministry for approval. The Laboratory on establishment will have a capacity to test 1000 samples per annum. It will help in control of sub-standard medicines in the state and also assure quality medicines to the general public, Patton stated.
Pastor Visato Yhoshu, Union Baptist Church Kohima pronounced the dedicatory prayer for the building.
