Newmai News Network Aizawl | October 6 A 37 year-old drug smuggler from Myanmar was found hung in custody in an apparent suicide case at Champhai police station in early Thursday morning. Police said that the victim identified as one Rohungliana, s /o Nokulha of Khawmawi village in Myanmar, was arrested with his friend Lalnunmawii, 38, d/o Nobilthanga of Zokhawthar village in Mizoram-Myanmar border when personnel of Mizoram police and 10 Assam Rifles raided the residence of one J Lalnunmawii in the outskirt of Zokhawthar village and seized 19 grams of heroin and 5800 tablets of methamphetamine worth Rs 21.18 lakh on Wednesday. The two accused were booked under relevant section of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, while another criminal case was slapped against Rohungliana under 14 Foreigner Act. They were lodged at Champhai police custody on Wednesday. Around 5 am on Thursday, Rohungliana, a father of two, was found hanging inside his cell at Champhai police station, officials of Champhai police station said. His dead body was sent to his native place Khawmawi in Myanmar on Thursday afternoon after postmortem examination was performed at Champhai district hospital.
