DTCC Peren holds seminar for police on COPTA Act

Peren, October 18 (MExN): District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC) Peren district organised a one-day seminar for Police enforcements on COTPA Act 2003 at 9th IR Battalion Saijang at Conference hall on October 11. It was held in coordination with the commanding officer and other police officers and jawans.

Under the COTPA Act, 2003 anyone using tobacco in public shall be imposed fine up to Rs 200. Section 5 is related to fine with advertisements, Section 6 & 6(a) prohibits the sale of tobacco to minors (under 18 years)/prohibits the sale of tobacco within 100 meter yards of school campus, Section 7,8,9 is related to fine with labelling and production sector for 1 to 2 years or Rs 5000 or more. 

Hoineichin Singson, social worker briefed the police officers related to the Act. The police officers ensured the DTCC staff that they will assist the department in any way they can towards a tobacco-free community.
