DTF Longleng to conduct mass awareness on COVID-19

LONGLENG, JULY 5 (MExN): The Longleng District Task Force (DTF) on COVID-19 will hold joint mass awareness campaign on COVID-19 covering entire villages and wards of the district. 


The decision was made after it was proposed by the DC & Chairman, DTF in its meeting held on July 4 at the DC’s conference hall. To cover the awareness campaign in a shortest possible period it was decided to constitute five teams comprised of one representative each from Medical department (Doctor), Administration, Police, Phom Peoples’ Council (PPC), Phomla Hoichem and Phom Students’ Conference (PSC). Each team will be assigned to cover villages/wards and sensitise the public on COVID-19 by maintaining strict SOP of the Government. To clarify the doubts through feedbacks from the public interaction session will be included in the campaign.


The Deputy Commissioner, M Shayung Phom expressed his gratitude to DTF Mokokchung and DTF Wokha for extending help to the returnees of Longleng district by providing the returnees with food, accommodation and also arranging transportation to ferry them on June 15 and 18 when unforeseen problems/difficulties came on the way en-route Longleng. 


He also acknowledged the positive response of Y Kikheto Sema, Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC) who is in-charge of covid-19 for Dimapur district for allowing and keepingLongleng returnees in Quarantine Centre in Dimapur. On behalf of the Officers of Longleng District the DC also extended sympathy and condolence to the near and dear one of Lt. TemsuImsong, SDFO (Fishery), Longleng demise on June 28 in Longleng and prayed that Almighty God grant solace to the bereaved family members. 


The DC further acknowledged all the frontline workers, Government officers, PBCA, Churches, NGOS, Civil Societies and individuals for their cooperation and support to contain and defeat the covid-19 pandemic in the district. He asserted that everything was managed well without obstruction and unpleasant incident reported from any quarters because of the good team work of the Government officers, NGOS, Churches and civil societies with one voice. 


He appreciated and thanked the female frontline workers of Phom Baptist Christian Association for effective management of the Covd-19 Kitchen, the Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK), and Sakhi One Stop Centre, Longleng for their tireless service.  


The DTF also reaffirmed to restrict the movement of vehicles bringing essential commodities from Assam till July 6. It discussed on transportation of two Longleng returnees recovered from Covid-19 after availing treatment in Kohima. The recovered returnees will be kept under institutional Quarantine Center isolated from other returnees. They will be tested again after 14 days counting from the last test and will be released if found negative.


It further reiterated and deliberated that SOP of the Government will be strictly followed and implemented to contain and control spread of the coronavirus.
