DU to represent Nagaland in theatre festival

Dimapur, March 14 (MExN): Dreamz Unlimited (DU), the most happening theatre society in State will be once again taking stage in the forth coming Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi Indigenous North East Theatre Festival and workshop 2011. The festival has three chapters- NE chapter, Guwahati Chapter and Delhi Chapter. All the eight states of North East will be participating and only indigenous plays will be performed. The festival is scheduled to be held from March 19 to April 10.
Dreamz Unlimited President, Tiakumzuk and General Secretary, Mughato Chishi in a joint press note informed that the team will be representing Nagaland with the adaptation of the indigenous play ‘Lichaba’s daughter’ which is based on a folk tale of the Ao-Naga tribe. The time slot of the play is an hour and a team of 17 members will be participating in the festival.
With the effort of the members, DU has paved the way for a new era for theater in Nagaland. Keeping in focus the mainstream theatre, DU has been bringing local flavours and ethnic styles to this art. The initial DU play was an evolved play ‘Technicolor Dream’ which depicted the scenario of Nagaland and was marked the recognition of Naga talents in theatre even in the national level. Dreamz Unlimited has also staged various street plays on HIV and AIDS and Malaria prevention play.
