DUDA conducts career counseling for Indo-Myanmar Border Block students

Students and others during the aid seminar for Indo-Myanmar Border Block students of GHSS, GHS, GMS and private schools under Border Area Development Programme at Meluri.

Kohima, May 16 (MExN): The Department of Underdeveloped Areas (DUDA) has conducted the first ever career counseling and first aid seminar for Indo-Myanmar Border Block students of GHSS, GHS, GMS and private schools under Border Area Development Programme (BADP) at Meluri HQ, Pungro HQ, Noklak HQ, Tobu HQ, Chen HQ and Phomching HQ commencing from May 6 to 14 last.

The Resource persons of the seminar included Dziesevituo Angami, Assistant Professor (Zoology) and Rokovikho Hesielie, Assistant Professor (Chemistry), Science College, Kohima and Kholie Dolf, First Aid Lecturer, IRCS, Nagaland.

Altogether 1658 Students along with one Teacher from 68 Schools had availed the opportunity to garner knowledge and basic information on Career Guidance and First Aid from the Resource Persons. The seminar commenced from Meluri Block HQ (Phek District) and culminated at Phomching Block HQ (Mon District) with three sessions of one hour each in all the venues.

Dziesevituo Angami, provided the basic information and ground rules to discipline oneself to face the challenges in life to pursue one’s career. He emphasized on the adolescence stage of life as the most crucial and vulnerable for Students where it required constant and right guidance/encouragement from parents, teachers and elders to overcome these obstacles for their future decision in life.

Rokovikho Hesielie, gave the detail information on selection of various professional Institutions and Training Centres within the State as well as outside from below Class X, Matriculate, +12, Graduate etc. He advised the students to make up their mind with clear conscious before late to choose a successful career in life. He encouraged the Students to take up any course of profession to lead a stable and honest life rather than a failure in life.

Kholie Dolf, elaborated the necessity and importance of saving a life during the time of emergency. He challenged both Students and Teachers to be a responsible citizen by upholding the value of life with all humanity. He thoroughly briefed the gatherings on First Aid of human/animal/insect/snake bites, bleeding wounds, stroke, unconscious, accidents, fractures and CPR (Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation). All participated Schools were provided with First Aid Kits Box.

Meanwhile, the department extended its gratitude to the Chief Minister who is also the Minister In-charge of DUDA, Advisor DUDA and Chief Secretary, Nagaland, for their support to organize this important programme for the down trodden and under privileged Students. It also thanked the Principal, Science College, Kohima and Secretary General, IRCS, Nagaland, for providing a very experience and knowledgeable Resource persons to make this programme a grand success and at the same time acknowledged the selfless service rendered by the Resource persons. It also thanked the Deputy Commissioners, DEOs & DISs of Mon, Tuensang, Kiphire & Phek Districts and ADCs, SDO (C)s, EACs, Headmasters and Village Leaders of each border Block HQs for their co-operation and support to make the programme meaningful.
