Dimapur: The inauguration and dedication programme of the newly constructed community hall of Duncan Bosti was held Saturday afternoon with president, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), SI Jamir, MLA, as the chief guest and SDO (C), Dimapur, as guest of honour.
The chief guest in his address congratulated the Duncan citizens for the new community hall and said his visit was like a “happy homecoming” for him as he got the opportunity to meet many old acquaintances. According to Jamir, Duncan Bosti stands out among the numerous colonies in Dimapur as it has maximum number of retired government servants. “It is a decent colony with enlightened people”, he said. Jamir said Duncan has the possibility to become a model colony and a trend setter to other colonies, on how to co-exist harmoniously and peacefully among various communities.
SDO (C) Temjensangla stressed on the need for unity and cooperation among various communities residing in the colony and work for greater interest of the colony as a whole. Stating that the diverse languages and dialects of Naga tribes sometimes comes in the way of prompt decision making, she said that dialects should be confined solely to communication within the family or tribe and not used as a tool for creating division or misunderstanding.
Chairman, Dimapur Urban Colony Council Chairmen Federation, L Supong, and chairman, GB Union Dimapur, MY Ngullie, also spoke on the occasion. Earlier, convenor of construction committee, TT Angami, gave a report of construction of the community hall.
