‘Duplicate land pattas being issued against original’

Landowners in Dimapur seek DC’s help

Dimapur, September 15 (MExN): The ‘Landowners/Pattadars Dimapur’, “whose lands are under Army occupation”, has submitted a presentation to the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur to look into the grievances of the landowners and pattadars with regard to the “genuine patta holders who have been paying land revenue to the government without obtaining any benefit in return”.

The ‘Landowners/Pattadars Dimapur’ in its representation, which was appended by its president, Chüpfu-o Angami, and secretary K Thong, while seeking the DC’s intervention, stated that there have been a number of complaints from patta holders that “duplicate land pattas are being issued in place of or against original pattas”.

Reiterating that the genuine pattadars have been paying land revenue for many years “without getting any benefit aspiring for justice”, the representation pointed out that it would be unfair on the part of the issuing authority “to replace the original pattas with duplicate ones making the genuine pattadars landless”.

In this connection, the representation requested the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur to look into the matter as per list of member–pattadars submitted earlier, “in case such duplicate pattas exist”, and urged him to “do justice to the genuine patta holders”.
