Durga Puja celebrations begin in Nagaland

Kohima | September 28 

Durga Puja celebrations commenced today in Nagaland with Sashti Puja and Adhibas near Head Post Office Kohima under the aegis of Kohima Bazar Durga Puja Committee.

Jyoti Grover Bhalla, wife of Nagaland’s Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla joined the celebrations on the evening of September 28 and extended warm greetings to the devotees. On September 29,  the programme will start  with Maha Saptami Puja by 8:15 AM, followed by Anjali Pradhan, Prasad distribution, Sandhya Arati and Arati Competition.

The celebration will continue till October 2.

Talking to media persons, Kohima Bazar Durga Puja Committee advisor Sampurna Nandmall informed that the festival will be marked by rituals, worship, musical entertainment and food stalls.
He sought the cooperation of the public for a peaceful celebration.

Durga Puja is marked by fervent prayers, rituals, and the worship of Goddess Durga, symbolizing the victory of good over evil and the strength of femininity.
