Zunheboto, November 14 (MExN): Nagaland Deputy CM Yanthungo Patton as special guests graced the Ahuna (post harvest festival) celebration at Zunheboto district on November 14.
A DIPR report stated that the special guests was accompanied by Minister, Soil and Water Conservation, V Kashiho Sangtam, Advisor, Food & Civil Supplies, LMCP and Taxes Pukhyi Sumi, Advisor, Prisons and Printing & Stationary, H Haiying and Advisor School Education and SCERT, K Tokugha Sukhalu.
Y Patton in his address reminded the people of ‘brotherhood we shared in the past and the similarities we poses till present days.’ On the Naga political issue, Patton said, “Nagas are looking forward to the Sumis and its leaders who head in major political bodies, to lead the Nagas as a whole to the brightest days ahead.”
Patton said the citizens of the district should always encourage developments in the district and appealed to the landowners especially to work out the easiest solutions to land issues inorder to encourage developments in the district.
“Elections may be due shortly but the unity we show in a celebration should not be lost but carried forward in every situation and to maintain peace and tranquillity among each other, because things come and go but we will have to remain and live together,” Patton asserted.
Pukhayi Sümi, while speaking as guest of honour said “we should never forget our roots which is our tradition and culture, and that, remembrance of this, is the actual celebration of the Ahuna Festival.”
“We Nagas should always remind ourselves that we all came into being from one house and home in the past,” he said and added, “we should always value our rich tradition and culture.”
Cultural items, songs and various other traditional activities were presented including Aphilo Kuwo by Khukiye Lukhayi village, Ghile Qhesho by Philimi village, Kakapu by SBCZ, Ahuna Kibe by Satami village and a special presentation by Immanuel Higher Secondary School, Zunheboto, the report stated.
Invocation was said by ES SBAK Nito mount, Rev Hukugha Zhimomi, President Sumi Hoho, I Nikheto Jimomi said the welcome address while vote of thanks was delivered by Vice President Sumi Hoho, Zhevihe Sumi. The event was chaired by GS Sumi Hoho, Dr Vihuto Assumi and President, ESSU, Ghuvika Yepthomi and President ZRSU, Gihuka Zhimomi as Comperes.
