Dy CM Patton highlights State BJP activities to Nadda

Kohima, July 25 (MExN): The Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton today highlighted various issues concerning the Bharatiya Janata Party as well as the State to the Party’s National President JP Nadda during video conference.

Among others, the video conference with office bearers of BJP Nagaland unit was attended by BJP National General Secretary & Political, in charge of Northeast and Jammu & Kashmir Ram Madhav;  Minister and State BJP President Nagaland Unit, Temjen Imna Along.

Appreciating Nadda for the organising the conference, Patton felt that it was appropriate time to update about all the party activities and functioning particularly in Nagaland, a press release from the Deputy Chief Minister Officce informed.

 Highlighting some of the important welfare schemes and developmental activities being undertaken by the present government under Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, Patton informed that Women Police Stations have been established in all the districts, in addition to the already existing ones.  These stations are functional in investigating all crimes involving women, he said.

Regarding the law and order situation, the Dy CM said that the CM has been holding State Level Security Coordination (SLSC) meeting every month to discuss the overall law and order issues in the state. 

In all such meetings, inputs from all the agencies is reviewed and based on inputs from all the agencies, corrective measures are taken wherever required, he said. 

All these measures have enabled the State Police to ensure maintenance of public peace, law and order in the State, ensure safety and security resulting in Nagaland being awarded the best performing small State in Law and Order for the two years in a row – 2018 and 2019, Patton maintained. 

Last such meeting, among others was attended by the Dy CM (Home), Chief Secretary, DGP, Home Department and all the central agencies and Para Military forces like SIB, IG (AR) and CRPF, was held on June 10, he said. 

Patton further noted that Anti-Extortion Cells have been set up in all 11 districts of the “state to tackle the menace of extortions” and said that the Nagaland Police have also made great strides in enhancing its technical capabilities to fight Cyber-Crimes.

Meanwhile, on the current COVID-19 pandemic, the Minister said that while the   task and the responsibilities on the Department of Health & Family Welfare have been enormous due to unprecedented situation, Nagaland government has been able to “manage the situation with the prompt and considerate help and assistance of the Central Government.”

The State has designated and notified all district hospitals, NHAK, AYUSH hospital Chedema and TB Hospital Mokokchung as Covid Hospitals, he informed. 

Besides 261 designated quarantine centers with 14,753 beds capacity and 28 quarantine centers for frontline workers on COVID-19 duty with 521 beds capacity, he noted. 

Covid Care Centers are being set up and to facilitate secondary and tertiary care including surgical procedures, private hospitals are being empanelled under Ayushman Bharat PMJAY to provide cashless services to the beneficiaries, Patton said. 

Patton also highlighted schemes for loss of life due to COVID-19 and accidental death on COVID related duty as well as for distribution of free rice to every household for two months (May and June 2020), which is exclusively for stranded migrants.

Amidst so many difficulties and challenges being encountered by the present day Central Government, Patton noted that India under the leadership of Narendra Modi “have been able to maneuver all critical situations to its advantage with a vision to make the country a vibrant Nation amongst the Nations.”
