DYRS hosts ‘Sonic Showdown- The Ultimate Band Battle’

The Directorate of Youth Resources and Sports (DYRS), Nagaland organised “Sonic Showdown”- The Ultimate Band Battle (Beat Contest for students of High School and Higher Secondary School) on September 26 at RCEMPA, Jotsoma.

The event was supported by Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA).

“The Heavy Melodies” band from Govt. Higher Secondary School, Shamator bagged the 1st position and received a cash prize of Rs. 1 Lakh

“Off The Records” from Hope Academy, Dimapur stood 2nd position and awarded with Rs. 50, 000.

Third place winner “After Life” from G. Rio, Kohima received Rs. 30, 000.

Consolation prize winners-The Gears (Model Higher Secondary, Kohima); Sonic Sailor (Mayangnokcha Govt Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung); LM Stars (LM Higher Secondary School); Escapism (Bethesda Higher Secondary School) and Humble Heights (Government Higher Secondary School Phek) had received Rs 10,000 each.

The valedictory programme was graced by Er Hozheto Shikhu, Chief Engineer PWD (Housing) as the special guest. Dr. Hovithal Sothu, Project Director, TaFMA also delivered short speech. Earlier, NCS Band gave the opening act while K3M band, which has recently won the Best Regional English Rock Song award at the Clef Music Awards 2025 in Mumbai rendered a special appearance. The valedictory function was chaired by Naroenla, Youth Resources Officer.
