Morung Express News Kohima | May 2 The first Dzükou Shooting Championship, and the inauguration of Aries Shooting Range was held on May 2 at Upper Tsiepfütsiepfhe Colony, Kohima. The three-day shooting championship is being organized jointly by Aries Rifle & Pistol Shooting and Dzükou Rifle Shooting Club, conducted by The Nagaland Rifle Association (NRA), Dimapur. The coaches for the three-day event are L Tomba, Imphal coach, Shooting Sports Authority of India (SAI), North East Regional Centre and Dijen Sharma, National shooter, both from Manipur. Merang Jamir, a certified International Shooting Sports Federation judge, will be the jury during the training. Addressing a press conference, Merang Jamir, NRA President and Shooting Director, Khel Trust of India, impressed on the necessity of a shooting range in order to develop professional shooters. With this initiative, Jamir inaugurated a 10 meter range shooting for Air pistol and Air rifle shooting, which is the first of its kind in Kohima. The training session will begin on May 3 followed by the championship on May 4. Jamir mentioned that if the shooter qualifies, they will be able to compete in Nagaland shooting championship which would be held in the month of June this year. Altogether, 19 shooters including two women have registered for the championships, besides the participation of kids above the age of 12. The Aries Shooting Range was dedicated by Rev. Moa Longchari, Pastor of Baptist Mission Church, Kohima.
