
Kohima, July 21 (DIPR): With the initiative of PB Acharya, Governor of Nagaland & Assam and Indian National Fellowship Centre (INFC), an NGO from Mumbai, the Department of School Education, Government of Nagaland, in collaboration with the Rotary Club Mumbai (North) worked out a project to start E-learning in 28 selected Government Higher Secondary Schools in Nagaland.
The project aims to strengthen education in Government Schools, with the assistance of NGOs and Rotary Club, Mumbai (North).
Dr. Tausif Jalal, General Manager, Wockhardt Foundation, a multi-national Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Company which is the Prime Donor, headquartered in Mumbai visited Kohima for three days from 13th to 15th July and had discussions at Raj Bhavan with the officials of Education Department in the presence of Governor. He has also visited four selected Schools in and around Kohima district and held discussions with the school authorities about the modalities for implementing of E-learning programme.
The Government and the NGOs have agreed to extend the E-Learning Scheme to more deserving Government Schools on request.
E-learning in Schools will increase access to learning opportunities, to enhance general quality of teaching/learning and to develop skills and competencies need needed in this century.
The Wockhardt Foundation has also agreed to enhance the number of schools in the State if the criterias are fulfilled. They are also planning to start e-learning in selected schools this academic year itself.
Government Schools of Nagaland, most probably, are the premier institutions to introduce E-Learning amongst the 8 North Eastern States.
