Each household in CAPO jurisdiction to plant 10 tree

Parliamentary secretary for social welfare & women development Chotisüh Sazo on Saturday regretted that the people of the Chokri area in Phek district are still lacking in many aspect.
Speaking at the one day workshop on socio-economic development at Chetheba under the aegis of Chokri Area Public Organization (CAPO), Sazo opined that the customary rice cultivation is not a sustainable practice economically and stressed on the need for more productive pursuits in this competitive world.
He particularly stressed that education is proportional to economy and advised the public leaders to develop economy of the area.
“It is pertinent to have entrepreneurial creativity and proper money management,” Sazo said.
He also advised the leaders to preserve bio-diversity to maintain ecological balance which in the long run will promote all round benefit.
Further, the parliamentary secretary called upon the leaders to encourage the young generation to have work ethics and not to seek easy money.
Also speaking on the occasion as resource person, Norman Putsure, secretary urban development stated that the greatest gift to man by God is the land and its resources.
He said the Tenyimia are proficient agriculturists but it is not longer economically viable and hence the need to embark on other fields such as bee keeping, rubber tree plantation, fishery etc.
He reminded the public that the government cannot offer jobs to all educated people and encouraged the younger generation to get trained in skills for self-employment.
Among from agriculture department highlighted different schemes pertaining to the people in the area.
Vengota Nakro, deputy director, soil & water conservation spoke extensively on conservation of bio-diversity substantiating his argument from biblical texts.
Besides many rural welfare oriented topics, he emphatically challenged the area public leaders to utilize locally available labours instead of hiring non-local laborers.
Dr. Vilatuo Krutsa highlighted the benefit of piggery farming and substantiated his point with relevant data. Vizonyü Meyase also addressed the seminar and stressed on the importance of honesty, humility, politeness etc.
Meanwhile, the seminar resolved that all forms of hunting (Bird, wild animal and fish) shall be totally banned all year round in all the CAPO jurisdiction till further notice. Any person/s violating this order and when caught shall be strongly dealt with including seizing of his/her arms & equipments plus a fine of Rs. 1000.
It also resolved that each household in all the CAPO jurisdiction shall plant atlaest 10 tree saplings.
