Eagle FC lifts LMMCC 2025

Eagle FC on Tuesday lifted the prestigious Lobenkokba Memorial Morning Champions Cup 2025, organised by the Morning Football Association (MFA) at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.

Eagle FC clinched the title after defeating Unity FC 4–1 in the final match. Vila scored a hat-trick for Eagle FC, while Lithung added another goal. Ellem netted the lone goal for Unity FC.

Gracing the closing programme, Colo Mero, Director of Life Ministries, underlined the importance of discipline and consistency, reminding players and spectators alike that health must always remain a top priority and should be nurtured as the foundation for growth, both in sports and in life.

Mero lauded the Morning Premier League (MPL) as a remarkable initiative that goes beyond competition. He said that while MPL has laid a strong foundation, the greater task ahead is to sustain, expand, and use football as a tool to inspire, uplift and empower the next generation.

Meanwhile, Burakum Ao, president of the Morning Football Association, expressed gratitude to the Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Nagaland, for allowing the association to use the ground during morning hours for the tournament, and hoped for the same support in the future. He also thanked the event’s media partner, The Morung Express, for the daily coverage of the tournament.
