Internshala launches the second edition of Internships for 1st Year Students
Internshala, the internships and trainings platform, has launched 'Internships for 1st Year Students', an initiative to encourage the 1st year college students across the country to pursue an internship and build their career early on in life. Stating that every year, 6-8 million students got enrolled in colleges only 8-10% of them have a job at their graduation, the campaign is aimed matching the skill-sets of the 1st year students to prepare them for future jobs, informed a release from Internshala. The campaign from November 26 also highlights the importance of earning a stipend for students through internships right from the 1st year of college and being able to manage their expenses or fulfill their wishes, it said. Through exclusive internships tailored to their skill set, the students will be able to gain practical experience, hone their skills, and earn a stipend, it added. Under the campaign, Internshala informed that students can apply for ‘virtual or work from home’ internships in profiles like Marketing, Content Marketing, Business Development, and other similar profiles. The internships for 1st-year college students require basic communication and writing skills and the campaign includes 20 exclusive internships, each offering a minimum stipend of Rs. 20,000 for the entire internship tenure, it said. “A common myth which college students have is that they could land an internship only in their pre-final or final year of college. Internships for 1st Year Students is our effort to break this myth by providing internships tailored to match the skills of 1st-year students.” said Sarvesh Agrawal, founder and CEO of Internshala. “Skill gap and unemployability are two major problems which the youth are facing and we are constantly striving to change that by providing internships as a solution and aiming to help every student in the country pursue her dream.,",he added. According to the release, Internshala founded in 2010, provides internship opportunities to over 4 million users registered and students as well as recent graduates can find internships in a diverse range of fields including engineering, management, applied arts, science, law, design, hotel management, architecture, and so on. In 2017-18, more than 4, 50,000 internships were listed on Internshala with an average stipend of Rs. 7,500/- per month, it informed.
