Kohima, April 17 (NEPS): The District Governor of the Lions Club from Manipur, Lion Saitya Priya Singh, has expressed his happiness on the progress of the Lions Club of Kohima and for their continued humanitarian services ‘with full dedication and conviction.’
In a function here at Hotel Japfu organized in honor of his visit by the Kohima Lions Club on Monday evening, the District Governor urged the fellow Lions to be prepared to cope with the fast-changing global scenario.
“We need to change our perception that can suit with the present day world,” he said adding they should constantly make “goodwill mission” to other fellow Lions in addition to their humanitarian services. “We give everything what we have----be it talents, skills, money, energy, etc-----to the society and also to the poorest of the poor,” he said. “But we expect nothing in return except the smiling from their faces.”
Saying that they were proud of being members of the 1.4 million-member-family in the world, the District Governor said the Lions should always try to be ambassadors of goodwill by contributing humanitarian service to the people.
Earlier Kohima Lions Club president Lion Tali Jamir delivered the welcome address, while Lion Meren Paul chaired the occasion. Senior Lion Achumi highlighted a brief profile of the District Governor. Lion AB Menon, Kohima Lions Club secretary also presented brief report of the activities of the Club with effect from July 2006 to April 16, 2007.
The occasion was also marked with the induction of two new members, Oken Jeet Sandham and Achakbou Newmai, into the club. The visiting District Governor administered the induction ceremony.
