
Dimapur, October 30 (MExN): A new body called East Dimapur Sumi Youth Organization (EDSYO) has been formed. It was formed during a youth general meeting held at East Dimapur Sumi Council Hall, which was convened keeping in mind the need for proper co-ordination among the youth of East Dimapur, informed a press release from Media & Publicity Cell, EDSYO.
As per the resolution of the meeting, the likeminded Sumi youth of East Dimapur after a thorough deliberation and in consultation with Sumi Council East Dimapur and some elders of the area formed EDSYO.
The press note informed that the organization will aim at providing platforms to help the people, especially the youths, in achieving their daily “trifles”, empowering and nurturing the leaders of tomorrow and encouraging its youth to express their views on various social, economic, political and cultural issues, enlightening the youths on their rights and duties. It will also aim to improve the educational system within its jurisdiction so that the students get quality education, take up measures that improve the environment around, and oversee and regulate the social demeanor of the members in the larger interest of the people of East Dimapur, work for the welfare and security of the Sumis in general and its members in particular and encourage communal and tribal harmony. The organization will also work to check illegal and anti-social activities within its jurisdiction in close co-ordination with the district administration.
Further, the organization will also stress on any issues that concern the interest of the people of East Dimapur. It has requested all the youths under the jurisdiction of East Dimapur to take active part in the activities of the organization so that the organization can contribute its bit for the betterment of the society.
The organization will be headed by Reuben Chophy as president and Qhevika Wotsa as general secretary along with 26 executive members and an Advisory Board.
