EC constitutes State Level MCMC in Nagaland

Kohima, April 30 (MExN): The State Level Media Certification & Monitoring Committee (MCMC) for the forthcoming Bye Election to Lok Sabha in Nagaland has been constituted with Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland, Abhijit Sinha as the Chairman.

According to DIPR report, the MCMC will perform two sets of functions which include “examining all cases of Paid News on appeal against the decision of District MCMC or cases that they may take up suo motu, in which case it shall direct the concerned ROs to issue notices to the candidates.”  

The committee will also take decision on “appeal from both District and Add I. CEO Committees on Certification of advertisement as per the Commission order No.509/75/2004/JS-i Dated 15th April 2004.”  

Other members include: One Observer appointed by the ECI; Limawati Ao, Director, Information & Public Relations; Shahu Patole, Deputy Director, News, AIR, Kohima; Xavier Rutsa, Senior Journalist & Correspondent, Times of India; and Member Secretary, Khegukha Sema, Jt. Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland   The bye election to lone Lok Sabha seat of Nagaland will be held on May 28 while counting of votes will be done on May 31.  

The seat fell vacant after Neiphiu Rio resigned as a Lok Sabha member to become the chief minister of the state.
