Eastern Christian College, Dimapur hosted an international seminar on “Indigenous Knowledge: Cultural Preservation and Revitalization” on October 18.

Dimapur, October 21 (MExN): Eastern Christian College, Dimapur hosted a one-day international seminar on “Indigenous Knowledge: Cultural Preservation and Revitalization” in a hybrid mode on October 18.
The seminar provided a dynamic platform for scholars, educators, and researchers from across India and abroad to engage in critical discourse on the importance of preserving and revitalizing indigenous knowledge systems, stated a press release.
The seminar aimed to promote awareness about the historical and educational significance of indigenous knowledge systems, providing a platform to deliberate on themes such as decolonizing history, oral storytelling, indigenous feminist voices, folklore, and ecological sustainability.
The event was graced by international speakers including Prof Dolly Kikon, Professor of Anthropology, University of California, Santa Cruz, and Director, UCSC Center for South Asian Studies; Prof Arkotong Longkumer, Professor of Anthropology and Modern Asia, University of Edinburgh, Scotland.
The technical sessions were moderated by Dr Mary N. Odyuo, Associate Professor, School of Agricultural Sciences, Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus, and Dr Shnaoli Chakraborty Acharya, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, West Bengal State University, Kolkata, West Bengal.
The event concluded with an acknowledgment of the participants’ contributions and a call to integrate indigenous knowledge into contemporary education systems in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
