ECI decides to issue Election Duty Certificate

Kohima: Nagaland comprises of one parliamentary constituency only. Therefore the ECI has decided that only Election Duty Certificate will be issued in the State and postal ballot will not be used except for service voters. All officers and police personnel on polling duty and election related duty will be eligible for EDC. This includes drivers attached to officers on poll related duty, videographers etc. Besides drivers and helpers of requisitioned vehicles will also be eligible.

The election officers in the districts have been briefed and necessary instructions issued in this regard. Therefore, it is for the information of the public and all concerned that those on election related duty and polling duty should apply to the respective ARO/DC of the district for issue of EDC in Form 12 A so that they can exercise their democratic right to vote.

Moreover, with the EDC, EPIC or any supporting document approved by the ECI will have to be produced before the Presiding Officer  allows him/her to cast the voteChief Electoral Officer Nagaland Sentiyanger Imchen (IAS) issued this in a press release, vide order No. ELE/CDT-171/2013 dated 15th March 2014.
