Edith Douglas gets new building

Mon, January 30(DIPR): The new School Building of Edith Douglas High School at Papong ward was dedicated by Nahngom Pastor KBCM in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Mon, representatives from KU & KSU, Headmasters of other private Schools and public leaders on January 30.   Speaking at the dedication program, the Chief Guest, Honje Konyak, Deputy Commissioner Mon congratulated the school authority for successful completion of the school building in time before the new academic session begins. While suggesting the School managing board to be cooperative, strict and at the same time liberal with the teaching staff in matters relating to the school children, he also sought active participation of the parents and the general public for the well being and future of the students and for the excellence of the school.   The DC also disclosed that it was he who had directed the school managing board to shift the school to new location as the old school compound was dangerously affected by landslide and sinking of the area.

  Earlier, the programme was chaired by Lichemse Sangtam, Asst. Head Master (EDS), special no by St. Peter's Hostellers, Mon, short speeches by V/P KU, V/P KSU and Chairman (school Managing Board), vote of thanks M.K. Mani (Head Master EDS) and Benediction by Ahat Pastor (Papong fellowship).   It may be mentioned that Edith Douglas High School, one of the oldest private school in the district was shifted to the new location due to continuous sinking and landslide at Tanlao ward where the old school building was located. Besides the school, many families have also been evacuated from the ward due to constant land sinking since 2012. A central team from Delhi also visited Tanlao ward in 2015.
