EDP training launched at Sao Chang College

TUENSANG, OCTOBER 27 (MExN): Training for the Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) has been launched at Sao Chang College, Tuensang. The project is sponsored by the North Eastern Council (NEC), Shillong, under the Government of India, with the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) in Guwahati serving as the nodal agency.

The first batch, which includes 10 participants, was held from October 8-12. On the inaugural day, Dr T. Lal Veda Chandra Kumar, Vice Principal of Sao Chang College, warmly welcomed the attendees and encouraged their involvement in the program. Ms. A Chubasangla Chang, Coordinator of the EDC, introduced the initiative, which was followed by a series of technical sessions.

The second and third batches took place from October 14 to 18 and October 21 to 25, respectively, engaging an additional 20 participants and featuring the same resource persons.

Over the course of three weeks, the EDP showcased esteemed professionals from diverse fields, including veterinary science, entrepreneurship, law, and academia. Each batch commenced with sessions led by notable figures such as N James Chang, Chief Functionary of IDS, Tuensang, who discussed “Business Proposal,” and Lemkhaba, Assistant Professor at Sao Chang College, who focused on “Leadership and Management.”

Subsequent days featured a range of topics. On the second day, Aghato K. Naga, an actor and producer, spoke about “Marketing and Sales,” while Kundang, proprietor of Style Track, shared her entrepreneurial journey. The third day included Dr Jongshi, VAS (Farm Manager) at SCRC, discussing “Starting a Livestock Farming: Key Considerations,” alongside Y Toninaro Chongpho from Sao Chang College, who covered “Pitching & Presentation Skills.” Yimtsusangla Issar, an advocate addressed “Legal and Regulatory Aspects of Business.”

On the fourth day, sessions included Rangbenkumla discussing “Networking and Relationship Building,” Mudang Khiamniungan on “Social Responsibility and Ethics,” and Pauphen Buchem addressing “Technology Infusion in Entrepreneurship.” The final day of each batch concluded with Dipak Nath, Associate Professor at Kohima Science College, presenting on “Intellectual Property Rights,” along with a valedictory program.

In total, 30 participants completed the EDP across the three batches. These individuals were selected based on business proposals submitted during the previous Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme (EAP) held in August 2024. Following the EDP, participants will undergo a screening process, with selected candidates given the opportunity to access the Incubation Centre (IC) and potentially receive seed funding of Rs 5 Lakhs for their entrepreneurial ventures.
