EDTC sets February deadline for petrol pump compliance

Dimapur, January 28 (MExN): The East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) has directed all petrol pump owners and operators functioning within its jurisdiction to strictly adhere to prescribed standards of hygiene and public amenities, in pursuance of a resolution adopted at an official meeting held at the EDTC office on January 19, 2026.

According to the directive, all petrol pumps must ensure the availability and proper maintenance of essential facilities for the general public. These include fresh and clean toilet facilities with separate toilets for persons with disabilities, a functional air inflation facility, and adequate fire safety measures and equipment in accordance with safety norms.

The order further mandates the provision of safe and fresh drinking water for public use, along with assured quality of petrol and diesel, and transparent, courteous service to customers.

The EDTC stated that these facilities are essential for ensuring public convenience, safety, and quality service delivery. All petrol pump owners and operators have been instructed to complete compliance with the stipulated requirements on or before the end of February 2026.

Failure to comply within the specified timeframe may invite appropriate action under applicable rules and regulations, the council warned. The EDTC has appealed for the cooperation of all concerned in the interest of public welfare and maintaining quality standards within East Dimapur.
