The growing technology and its impact on education is a global experience. It has opened a new window to the world of education. The growth of technological capabilities to deliver information and enable communication for educational purpose through the internet is booming. And this devotion of technology to facilitate the learning experience is recognized as Educational Technology (EdTech).

Some of the biggest EdTech trends in recent times include Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented and Virtual Reality, Big Data, Blockchain Technology, Robotics, Learning Analytics, Adaptive Learning and many more.

For the older generation and some younger ones alike, EdTech terms may be exceptionally unfamiliar. EdTech in Oxford language is defined as ‘digital technology used to facilitate learning.’ Distance learning or online education is the most uncomplicated explanation and interpretation for common understanding.

The combined features of EdTech - software, hardware, and processes, intend to assist academic progression and promote education.

Educators all around the globe are trying to adapt to the concept of renovating conventional teaching and learning to digital form. For learners as well, the involvement of gadgets and internet in the learning process has added new dimensions of experience.

The future of education sector would defiantly depend on the changes that come along with the advance of technology which continues to develop at a very rapid pace. Teachers and students now have to get used to distance learning via digital platforms and therefore, it becomes pertinent to recognize that EdTech is essential to advance education.

The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically transformed the traditional classroom, at least in terms of engaging the teachers, students, and parents in the learning process. The questions of bringing reformation in the syllabus, undertaking relevant and inclusive education, remain some uncertain issues.

Most of the world is considering using technologies to advance personalized learning through virtual reality, robotics, online instruction and wearable tech. Services like Alma and Engrade are an illustration of how far EdTech can make a difference. They provide “one-stop solutions” for educational leaders and schools and thus, developing EdTech as the next growing industry.

The benefit from the advancement of EdTech and its potential implications are far-reaching and in such a state of affairs, what is the horizon of EdTech for a state like Nagaland where the education system is still dependent on paper-and-pen teaching method?

In Nagaland, the people and schools, have been constantly let down by several factors such as, unsuitable policies, poor internet, lack of basic infrastructures and gadgets.

Bringing new methods into established courses is not without considerable challenges. Nonetheless, looking at the future of education, EdTech is predicted as the next thing in the mainstream for disseminating knowledge. Not everyone is necessarily equipped to deal with technology and its tools and its applications. Conversely, it cannot be ignored that EdTech is changing the definition of classroom teaching.

The fact that education sector, irrespective for the location, may be reluctant to move away from old methods, there might be a time when it is not a question of choice but a requirement to embrace the new wave of reforms in the method of learning.
