‘Edu and Patkai has withstood test of time’

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 17 (MExN): Minister for Health & Family Welfare Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu today said that nothing in life comes easy and that if one aspires to become someone in life, then he or she should not remain idle.

“If you want a bright career and future, then you should have busy schedules during your student life,” the minister exhorted students of Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) on the occasion of the 36th annual social day of the college held at Bundrock Chapel-cum-auditorium. Azo also told the students to be positive in life and not to be discouraged by failures and hardships as they can only make a person stronger and more resolute. He also said that though education came to the Nagas some 200 years back, Nagas are still lagging behind other societies and people as they have not imbibed the qualities of “self-reliance” and “self-dependence.”

Turning to PCC, the minister said that the college has etched out a name for itself in the filed of education and “stood the test of time.” “As far as education is concerned, may the sun not set in Patkai college,” he added. He also said that the present PCC principal was a “committed educationist” and that under him the college can look forward to brighter days. While stating that the DAN government was committed to bring a “sea of change” in Nagaland, the minister said for that to happen, the main focus should be on human development, especially that of youth and students. On the occasion, the Health minister also assured to help set up a health care centre in the college.

PCC principal Husazu Epao in his welcome note said that the college has witnessed continuous growth in varied spheres since its humble beginning 36 years ago with 20 students and two lecturers. The principal all these were due to blessings of God and the support of churches (both within and abroad) and well wishers of the college.

Students’ Union PCC president Viphrülie Krose delivered the presidential address. Among the various presentations of the students, a traditional fashion show was one of the attractions of the day. Meritorious students and dedicated lecturers were also presented with prizes and gifts on the occasion.
