World Animal Day cum World Rabies Day observed
Tseminyu, October 12 (MExN): The Department of Veterinary and AH under Tseminyu Sub-division celebrated World Animal Day cum World Rabies Day at Terogvunyu village on October 4.
The programme was chaired by Dr. Gwazenlo Tep, VAS, Tseminyu, where the keynote address was delivered by Dr. Joseph N. Angami deputy CVO Kohima where he highlighted about the importance of celebration of World Animal Day pointing out the need for harmonies co-existence between human and animals for ecological balance and better living in our world. He requested the members present for extending better care towards their companion the animals. The importance of celebration of world rabies day was also shared stating the theme of the year’s celebration- ‘Educate, vaccinate and elimination.’ Further the risk of rabies and measures for its prevention and treatment were disseminated to the members present.
A press release stated that tn commemoration of the celebrations Shelly Katiry, EAC, Tseminyu flag off the ARV programme. Altogether 56 pigs with swine fever and 20 dogs with anti-rabies were vaccinated. The programme, which was attended by around 40 villagers, concluded with vote of thanks by Shunyu Semp, GB of Terogvunyu Village.
