‘Education is all round development of individual’

Kohima, September 11 (MExN): Social Welfare Minister, Kiyanilie Peseyie has stated that education is all round development of an individual and not only books and academics. Quality education, he added, is a must in this competitive age.  

Speaking at the Poumai Students’ Union Kohima (PNTMK) 32nd freshers’ meet cum annual get together as the chief guest on September 10 here, the Minister also reminded that student life is the most important period in a person’s life as it is the most productive and defining period. He urged the students to make the best use of every opportunity that comes their way. Kiyanilie further advised the students’ community to study seriously and be somebody in future with responsibility in the society. He urged the gathering to join hands in reviving and preserving the fast disappearing valuable Naga identity of the past like sincerity, truthfulness, integrity, obedience and respect to the elders. He appealed to the gathering to contribute for the betterment and uplift of our society.  

Addressing as the guest of honour, Chief Manager, SBI Senapati branch Hepuni Bismarck urged the students’ community not to focus on government job alone as there are many opportunities available in private sectors. However, he reminded that hard work is a must to be successful in any career.  

Bismarck further stated that sometimes working hard alone will not work unless one works smartly with proper planning and right target. He reminded the need of discipline and to stay focused on the target to be successful in life. Advocate Gauhati High Court, Kohima bench Ashipri Zho in his address challenged the students to work hard with sincerity. He shared his life testimony on how he struggled and worked hard while he was a student to reach to the present status.  

Meanwhile, NSF Secretary Education, Imtiyapang stated, “We are living in the transitional period and students should sow seeds for their future.” He reminded the students’ community that there is no magic or formula to be successful in life unless they work hard at the right time.  

S. Davei Apaomai and Caroline Chao were declared Mr and Miss Freshers respectively. The event was attended by students, church leaders, student leaders, public leaders, well wishers and others.
