The Nagaland Bhojpuri Samaj (NBS) organised a special programme on June 18 in Dimapur honouring meritorious students from the community, who successfully cleared the HSLC and HSSLC examinations 2023. A total of 72 students from the community were felicitated. They included 10 toppers and 62 others, who scored more than 80 percent, from the community.

The programme, organised at the Durga Mandir Hall, had Mayang Lima, Upa-Lokayukta, Nagaland as the special guest, besides a hosts of guests from the local civil society organisations.

Mayang Lima, in his address, said that the NBS has been at the forefront of various community activities since its inception. While noting the dedication and unity of the community, he said that the success of the students owes, in part, to a strong community. Lima expressed hope that the students would actively participate in India's journey towards becoming a developed nation. “Education transforms civilisations and it should make you disciplined, do good for the society and be an asset to the nation,” he said.

Y. Kikon, President of the Dimapur District Citizens' Forum (DDCF), shared insights into the past efforts of the DDCF in organizing a collective felicitation program for Dimapur in 2010. In the subsequent years, he said that the decision was made to let individual communities organise similar events for their respective communities. Furthermore, Kikon encouraged the students of Dimapur to aspire to pursue civil services.

Ahidur Rehman, President of the Muslim Council Dimapur, urged the students to remember to give back to the community. He emphasized the importance of unity among the non-Naga communities residing in Dimapur, urging them to stay together despite growing divisions in society. Rehman also shared the inspiring news that the topper of this year's NEET examination is from Dimapur, highlighting the city's potential for exceptional achievements.

Pramod Singh, President of the Nagaland Bhojpuri Samaj, expressed satisfaction with the outstanding results achieved by the students this year, surpassing the previous year's performance. Singh encouraged the students to aim for perfection and strive for a perfect score, emphasizing that 80 percent is insufficient when venturing outside the state. He also addressed the issue of Inner Line Permit (ILP), stating that there is no need for panic. He maintained that genuine citizens should cooperate with the Nagaland Government in implementing the process.
