Dimapur Meetei Council organises felicitation programme

With a view towards encouraging the student community to strive and achieve success in their respective careers, the Dimapur Meetei Council (DMC) on Sunday organised their 4th felicitation programme for the meritorious students of HSLC & HSSLC examination at Kevijau colony, Dimapur. 

On the occasion, chief guest Tovihoto Ayemi, MLA, Advisor for the Department of Power stated that, “Education is the backbone of a nation and society. In saying this, I call upon every student to have commitment in their studies and serve the society in every capacity. It is your quality and desire in life that makes you a leader.” 

While noting that the purpose of the gathering was, to celebrate the achievements of these young minds, he said that their efforts have won personal distinctions and brought glory to their society, parents, and teachers and to their respective schools and institutions. 

He also mentioned how success is a result of hard work, learning from failure, and having a lot of perseverance, and added that while it is not an easy journey, it is worth the time and effort.

He further added that, “student life is the most important phase of one’s life as it is a time to mould yourself and prepare for what you want to become or what you wish to become. This world has become so competitive in every sphere and only the best are chosen.” He also reminded about the crucial role of parents towards exerting positive influences on a child’s behaviour and attitude towards education. 

On his end note, he said, “After every end comes another new beginning so as leaders of tomorrow, we wish you great success in whatever you do and for a better future.” 

Speaking on behalf of all the successful students of the HSLC and HSSLC examination, Delphi Oinam, HSLC topper 2022, shared a few words by observing that organising such programmes are a motivation and inspiration for all the students, especially for the Meetei student community. 

Besides commenting that success is not always about greatness but it is about consistency, she said, “hard work, consistency, perseverance and determination deserve success; and I believe that all of us have worked so hard and that’s why we are here today.” 

Oinam attributed her achievements to her parents, teachers and above else God and also reflected on how having a set of goals and working hard towards realizing that goal is important as well.   

She conveyed to all her fellow students to always have trust within themselves to achieve whatever it is that they have set out for and to always take time for their personal hobbies and interests as it can be a door way towards finding what they are good at. 

The programme also showcased a number of traditional dances, drama and songs from members of the Meetei community living in Dimapur.
