Chakhroma Students' Union 40th conference begins

A two-day long 40th General Conference of the Chakhroma Students' Union (CSU) commenced today at Tsiepama under the theme “Transforming challenges into opportunities.” Gracing the inaugural session as the special guest, Nagaland's Women Resource Development & Horticulture Minister Salhoutuonuo Kruse asserted that amidst all challenges in the modern society, education form the most powerful tool for personal and societal transformation.

“Education is the key to transformation,” she said. Apart from acquiring a degree, knowledge, skills and the right mindset also required, she said,

In this, Kruse encouraged the students to embrace learning beyond the classroom and explore new technology to deal with a competitive world.

The Minister also expressed concern over unemployment problem and environment degradation.

Stating that it would be difficult task for the government to provide job to everyone, Kruse encouraged the youth to venture into entrepreneurship activities, agri and allied sector and tourism. She also stressed on the need to adopt scientific method of farming for more yield.

The Minister said that students hold the key to the future, not just for oneself but for the society as a whole.

Stressing on the need to preserve the rich cultural heritage in a rapid modernization, Kruse told the gathering to uphold the good moral values of the forefathers, who built and preserved “our identity despite hardships.”

“They transformed the challenge of survival into an opportunity to create a strong and united people,” Kruse said adding “Today, it is our turn to rise and shape our future by turning obstacles into stepping stones.”

Later, the minister unveiled a monolith in commemoration of the 40th general conference of the CSU.

‘Promote Tenyidie language’
In his presidential address, CSU President Kezhawelie Richa challenged the students to effectively prioritize competitive exams as well as entrepreneurship avenues. Richa also stressed on the need to promote Tenyidie language and at the same time to stay connected with “Our roots and identity.”

Angami Students’ Union (ASU) Vice President Thejalhoukho Thomas Khawakhrie shared greetings on behalf of ASU. He informed that the 31st biennial conference of ASU will take place from April 4-6 at Khonoma. In this, he called upon all the units of ASU to be part of the conference.

Earlier, Tsiepama Students Union (TSU) president Rokosielie Geisuo delivered welcome address. Seyiezhalie Khro, pastor, Christian Revival Church Tsiepama invoked God’s blessing while Kekhriesino Keyho presented a special number.

The inaugural function was chaired by central organizing committee convenor Visako Rino while CSU monolith unveiling service was led by CSU central organizing committee member Seyieneilhou Keyho.

The inaugural session was followed by technical session with Er. Kekhrielhoutuo Nakhro, Chief Co- ordinator IT, Nagaland Board of School Education and president Chakhroma Gazetted Officers’ Krotho as the resource person. Later, Asalie Peseyie, founder & CEO Infinity Inc also graced Vaganza nite.

On day 2 (March 16), the Devotional Service will be held 9:30 AM with Zhau Sanchu, Associate Pastor, Christian Revival Church Sovima & Principal, Hope Institute of Theology as the speaker. The valedictory session will start at 1:30 PM and it will be graced by Zhaleo Rio, Advisor, Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, Government of Nagaland.
