‘Education is the lifeline of human society’

Dimapur, February 20 (MExN): After three years of joint effort by the public and the Lengrijan Village Council (VC), the Government Middle School, Lengrijan, Dimapur was inaugurated by Minister of School Education and SCERT, Nyeiwang Konyak on February 20. 

The Chief Guest in his inaugural speech said that “Enrollment is satisfactory” as per the statistics presented, but further expected more role on the part of the teachers and parents. “Education is the lifeline of human society. When a good seed is sown it will bear good fruit,” he asserted. Meanwhile, the chief guest contributed footballs and also assured to upgrade the school to high school, as requested by the VC. 

The school was constructed under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan with the estimated cost of Rs. 7 lakh and through public contribution. The VC members requested the government, under SSA to further allot funds for putting up fencing in the school premises for security. They also requested for the extension of four rooms as the sitting capacity was too small for large numbers of students, numbering to around 85 in one class. 

The inaugural function was chaired by I. Asang Walling, VEC Chairman, Lengrijan, invocation by Wati Kichu, Associate Pastor, DABA, welcome speech by N. Matong Jamir, Chairman Lengrijan, VC, special presentation by GMS Students, vote of thanks by T. L Toshi Longchar, Headmaster, GMS and benediction was pronounced by T. Lepzuk Tzudir. The function was attended by a host of dignitaries, including Additional Secretary and Director, SSA, public elders, teachers and students.
